"El Timon" Restaurant, the flavor of San Juan del Sur

El Timón is located on the beach of the most beautiful bay in Central America. We are proud of the original and traditional dishes we have been serving in San Juan del Sur since 1979. Each day we work with our local fishermen to give you the freshest fish and seafood possible.

El Timon was founded by Don René Granja Calderon and his wife Doña Frida Fajardo, both citizens. With over 30 years of restaurant experience under his belt, El Timon has evolved into a favorite fish and seafood restaurant for visitors and residents of San Juan del Sur. Now the next generation of Granjas have taken over the restaurant duties, but the watchful eye of Don René remains. Don René and Doña

Frida have left their children with their people skills, optimism, warmth, dedication and determination to achieve excellence in the services and products that each guest experiences.

At El Timon, you will find your familiar seafood dishes as well as more exotic fare using our authentic Nicaraguan beach recipes. Enjoy our varied selection of ceviche, lobster, shrimp, squid, clams, octopus, delicious fish fillets served with our famous house sauce, and more. And meat eaters, don't worry. We have plenty of savory beef and chicken meals to suit your taste. Vegetarians will also be happy with our delicious salads, soups and specially prepared vegetarian plates, the best selection in San Juan del Sur!

Try our inviting cocktails or fresh fruit drinks as you sit comfortably on our deck admiring the magnificent sunset during our Happy Hour celebration (Monday through Friday, 4-6 p.m.). Let the stress melt away.... it doesn't get any better than this.

Our terrific restaurant staff is here to help you choose from our menu and make your stay more pleasant. Just let them know what you need! It is our sincere hope that you have the best possible beach restaurant experience with us at El Timon. Join us...the magic of San Juan del Sur and El Timon awaits you.
